Tuesday 10th October 2006, 21:32 GMTI would like to have a copy of the code. Or at least the map-code. Would the admin allow it?

Wednesday 11th October 2006, 19:20 GMTHi ryacko,
Sure, you can have a copy of the FLA's, just get the URL for the flash file and replace "swf" with "fla", e.g...
/a/swf/world.fla
I don't mind anyone playing with it, but if you are going to be making alterations like getting it to auto update, please keep the number of server requests down, as I do have to pay for bandwidth and don't like the idea of some people getting an unfair advantage.
In regards to the rest of the site (PHP), I don't mind giving out bits of source code, but under the condition that you inform me immediately of any security problems or have suggestions for improvements.
I do like the "Open Source" methods, which allow other people can learn from me, but in return it would be nice that I get something out of it - like learning a new way to approach a problem.

Saturday 14th October 2006, 17:25 GMTWell, if anything, you should be the one pointing out security problems sine I know barely anything about PHP. Which reminds me, is there comments in the code?

Saturday 14th October 2006, 18:22 GMTHi ryackoman,
The code is fully commented - more so than most programmers would consider healthy.
As to security problems, I have covered all the ones I know of and these are re-checked each time any changes are made.
However it is possible that I could have missed one, and if you happen to see it, then that's where I should be notified (instead of it being exploited).
Take a look at how Firefox / Mozilla work... although they can afford a bounty of £269 ($500) for each exploit someone discovers (notice most people will re-donate their bounty back to Mozilla). Unfortunately I don't have any money for a bounty, but your name will be shown in the forum so you can show off to your friends / family / co-workers / future employers / employees / customers / etc.
